In Remembrance: Ann McPherson

My 2x Great Grandmother

Today, I am remembering my 2x great grandmother, Ann Macdonald, married name Morison, who died at Echuca, Victoria, 109 years ago, on 12 April 1916, and was buried at Echuca Cemetery. Her grave is unmarked, with no headstone.

Ann was born in December 1847, at Glenelg, Ross-Shire, Scotland, to parents, Alexander MacPherson and Mary MacDonald.

On 3 September 1853, Ann, aged 6, arrived in Australia, with her parents and siblings, on the SS Hercules. The family settled at Heathcote, Victoria, where others from Ross-shire, Scotland had settled.

In 1866, Ann married Farquhar Morison, who also came to Australia from Ross-Shire, Scotland. They had three sons, who were born at Heathcote. Their sons were Francis William, known as John, Davidson Alexander and James Roderick.
