In Remembrance: Farquhar Morison

My Great Great Grandfather.

Today, I am remembering my great great grandfather, Farquhar Francis MORISON, who died at Spring Plains, Heathcote, Victoria, 129 years ago, on 3 January 1896, and was buried at Heathcote Cemetery.

Farquhar was born at Glenshiel, Ross-Shire, Scotland. He was baptised there, on 07 November 1820. His parents were William Farquhar MORISON and Jennat MACRAE.

Farquhar MORISON arrived in Australia in 1848 on the SS Blonde. He was the schoolmaster during the voyage and continued with that occupation for a few years after he arrived, before becoming a farmer.

In 1866, Farquhar married Ann McPHERSON, who also came to Australia from Scotland. They had three sons. All were born at Heathcote.
