Today, I am remembering my great great grandfather, Thomas Albert Love, who died 149 years ago, at Heathcote, Victoria, on 09 February 1876. He was buried at Heathcote Cemetery.
Thomas Albert LOVE was born at Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire, England in 1855, to parents Thomas Webb/Love and Sarah Pearse. Thomas left England with his parents and siblings to start a new life in Australia, settling at Heathcote, Victoria.
There is confusion over the surname of the family, as both Webb and Love seemed to have been used, at differing times. It seems that on arrival in Australia, the family name was changed from Webb to Love and at times, Webb/Love.
In 1874, Thomas married Georgina Maria Annetta Cox. Their daughter Ada Louisa was born in Heathcote in 1875. When Ada was one year old, Thomas passed away in hospital. His cause of death was colonial fever, which was actually typhoid.
