Time for another in the Sunday Snippets series. This is where I share what’s been happening during the past week, in my world of genealogy. I’ve had a busy week, deep diving into research, writing blog posts and reading some of the amazing family history stories that are published on Substack. I also have exciting news, coming soon.
I hope you enjoy the following stories. Just click on the images for the link.
Lori Olsen White
Huge congratulations to Lori Olsen White as she celebrates her one year anniversary on Substack. Lori is a wonderful story teller. Her stories are always a great read and often make me think. Pop over and congratulate her on a wonderful first year. Lori would like you to join in her celebrations.
Dr. Mary Marshall’s Collection
One hundred and thirteen years ago, on June 3, 1912, Dr. Mary Marshall’s grandmother, Mattie L. Williams wrote a letter to her mother detailing what was happening in her life away from home. This story is a part of history that I really know little about, so I appreciated to opportunity to learn.
Jenealogy Scrapbook
Jenny writes about how her research led her to crash down a brick wall. Most of us have brick walls and some are very hard to knock down. It’s always interesting to read about how another family historian manages to break through. For Jenny, a long held feeling led to thorough research, which solved her problem.
Paul Chiddicks
I’m sure every genealogist or family historian would love this, as I did.
Anne’s Family History - Gentleman Adventurers: A Little Drive to Yugoslavia
Anne follows a journey that her father took in 1955
Mightier Acorns
I have a One Place Study, and enjoyed reading this article about researching a One Name Study. I found it interesting to read about the steps taken.
Projectkin
This Zoom event is a must see for anyone interested in telling their family stories in an interesting way, so they will be more likely to be read by our descendants. Randy Seaver explains the process that he uses, which he calls the ‘ABC Process’. There was so much information to take in, that I will be watching again.
Currently I’m 4 days into my 50 Day Blogging Challenge. If you think you would like to take on this challenge, it’s not too late to join. Start at a date of your own choice, and publish a blog post every day for 50 days. Let me know if you decide to join, so I can see your post.
