Time for another in the Sunday Snippets series. This is where I share what’s been happening during the past week, in my world of genealogy. I’ve had a busy week, deep diving into research, writing blog posts and reading some of the amazing family history stories that are published on Substack. I also have exciting news, coming soon.
I hope you enjoy the following stories that I read this week.
Another great story from Lori Olson White This time it’s about ration books, which I haven’t really ever given much thought to. It made me wonder about what ration books were like in Australia. I suspect another ‘rabbit hole’ coming up. It’s on my list.
I was waiting for #3 of this tragic series by Jane Chapman This very sad story occurred at Kyeburn Diggings, Jane’s One Place Study.
I love a historical true crime story and have a few in my own family when it was my female family members who were the victims. There are so many questions that come to mind here, so I'll be looking forward to hearing about how Eva’s life went after this incident, that would have changed her life completely.
Another Australian story, with this one being about transportation and life in Australia in the early to mid 19th century.
Another true crime story. I felt very sad to read about the lasting affect of this dreadful crime on a young relative of the victim.
I never miss The Chiddicks Observer It’s always great catch up reading and there is often a newsletter there that I missed during the week.
Mission Genealogy
This article about Paleography was written for Mission Genealogy by Deborah Carl from Your Family Quest. I do wonder how AI is affecting those who volunteer to transcribe documents as I did for many years.
Office Hours is a monthly QA&A Mission Genealogy event, where participants can bring along their questions about Substack. You really just never know the topic that will be discussed and that’s what I love about it.
Projectkin
I loved this special event from Projectkin that featured Lisa Maguire from Ancestory discussing micro stories, and the way telling our family story can be approached differently
Coming up Next Week
Speakers’ Corner is Projectkin's new event, which I will be hosting monthly. The first event is later next week where my guest is Anne from Anne's Family History Click on the image below to register and for information regarding your time zone.

Thank you @Jennifer Jones for the round-up of things that interested you this week. There were a couple of items in there I had missed so off to read them now ... And thanks for including the final part of my Mt Nobbler Tragedy in your list!
