I never cease to be in awe of the strength and resilience of our ancestors who faced such dreadful challenges making a new life for themselves so far from all that was familiar to them. thank you for sharing Thomas' story.
What an incredible life journey for Thomas Waters. Was he still married to his first wife, Ruth, when he married his second wife, Elizabeth? His perseverance in the face of unimaginable sorrow and hardship is a credit to this man. Now he has left a powerful legacy for his 54+ grandchildren.
He was still married to his first wife when he married Elizabeth in Australia. We have to remember that there was no divorce for the lower classes at the time. To me the mystery is why he left his wife, so soon after their marriage.
An incredible story!
