I have written about siblings marrying siblings many times in the Dear Paul pages and I am always amazed to read about these interconnected families. I have been trying to find the nearest family to the famous seven brides for seven brothers film. The level of detail in these newspaper reports are wonderful. Documenting the colours of dresses and the gifts bought for the happy couples. A delightful read Jennifer.

Thank you Paul. If our family were lucky enough to be written about in the newspapers in the 19th century, the reports were usually a gift to the family historians in the family. So many families were interconnected in those days, which is why we need to research our smaller branches.

I always say that newspapers are one of the most under utilised resources for family historians. I also agree that our families were all so interconnected in those days

It took me a while to get it all straightened out Jane. Haven’t begun to think about the DNA here
